For over 200 years, a history spanning 8 generations, the Tasca family’s love for the magical island that is Sicily has driven them to express and exalt its culture and traditions through each of its wines. Two extraordinary places, important parts of Sicily’s rich history, have been central to this labour of love: the Regaleali estate, which now stretches over 500 hectares in the very heart of Sicily; and Villa Tasca (formerly Villa Camastra) in Palermo, the heart and soul of the Sicilian capital’s social and cultural life in the late 19th century. Since then, the winery has acquired a number of estates to more fully represent Sicily’s diverse and rich winemaking culture, including the Tascante Estate on Mount Etna and the Capofaro estate in the volcanic Aeolian islands. Tasca counts have always spearheaded a can-do culture, being the first to introduce any innovations in farming technology and cultivation techniques. Respect for the land one cultivates involves giving it time to breath, at its own natually calm pace, and this philosophy has been at the heart of Tasca d’Almerita’s winemaking tradition stretching back over two centuries.
