The Guicciardini Strozzi family is a union of two Tuscan noble families whose histories can be traced back to 994 AD. From having Niccolo’ Macchiavelli as a secretary, to counting Mona Lisa as a direct ancestor, the family’s illustrious past has a similarly rich and successful history with wine; there are records of Vernaccia di San Gimignano being grown on the estate in 1200. In the 1970s the family expanded beyond their flagship wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG (now a DOCG but originally Italy’s first white DOC wine), and began producing excellent Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG and Morellino di Scansano DOCG wines as well.
